Briefing the Queensland Government on Halfbrick Academy: students placed inside real production on globally shipped games.
A talk for the Queensland Government on Halfbrick Academy, a program we built with QUT to create a better path from university into the games industry.
The point was to make education less abstract and put students next to a studio that had actually shipped global hits like Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride12: real production constraints, real teams, real feedback, real shipping.
It comes from the same belief that runs through my management work: how you build the team, and the path into it, is part of the product.
