Cloud, privacy, and digital sovereignty are product and infrastructure decisions, not just policy. Argued in Parliament in 2010.
A talk at the Finnish Parliament's Internet Forum, given as a cloud founder, on why Europe needed its own cloud.
The argument: once cloud infrastructure becomes the foundation under startups, governments, companies, and citizens, then privacy, trust, data protection, and sovereignty stop being abstract policy debates. They become product and infrastructure decisions, made by whoever builds and owns the platform.
I was making that case years before digital sovereignty became a mainstream European priority.
